Chief organisers of Sportflames Player of the season award has confirmed that the 2022 edition of the award has been moved to Ilorin, Kwara State Nigeria which would now be tagged the Sportflames/Kwara United player of the season with four players already shortlisted to compete for the top prize.
Recall that the award previously known as the Sportflames/MFM Player of the season award was first held in the 2016/2017 season with Onuwa Chukwuka now with Lobi Stars emerging as the inaugural winner of the award owing to his brilliant form for MFM Football Club which earned the Olukoya Boys a CAF Champions League spot.
Current Niger Tornadoes right back Adeyinka Najeem won the last edition of the award following his brilliant form which helped the Olukoya Boys maintained their NPFL status last season beating midfielder Akanni Elijah, Goalkeeper Adeniyi Bamidele and defender Adikwu Moses to the award.
Four Kwara United stars including striker Samad Kadiri, Alao Danbani, midfielder Afeez Noshiru and defender Deji Bamidele have been nominated for the award.
The nomination was made by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria ( SWAN ) Kwara State chapter after due assessment and analysis of the performance, contribution of each players in the current season.
Former Enyimba International striker Samad Kadiri and Alao Danbani where considered for the nomination following their goals contribution for the Harmony Boys as they have jointly registered fifteen goals for the side having netted eight and seven goals respectively this season.

Afeez Noshiru nominated following his consistent performance for the club, a dynamic, diminutive, and disciplined player, Afeez also known for his relentless energy and excellent ball-winning abilities as a box-to-box midfielder in the centre of the pitch.
His strong positional sense, off the ball movement, and ability to read the game, his tactical awareness, intelligence, anticipation, and the defensive aspect of his game, his ability to tackle and regain possession, intercept passes, and block shorts a performance which has brought stability to the Kwara United midfield and also earned him an invitation to the Nigeria national team the Super Eagles.
Ayodeji Bamidele nominated for the award, has been efficient for Kwara United this campaign, he can as well be described as a complete and a consistent defender.
A leader from the back can as well be described as one of the fastest defenders in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) a strong defender with good aerial ability. He combines these physical gifts with a phenomenal tactical intelligence, discipline, and knowledge of the game, as well as an excellent positional sense, which allows him to excel in one on one situations thanks to his abilities in reading the game and at anticipating plays, and he is excellent at closing down and tackling opposing players in possession of the ball, he also eyes for goals with a brilliant shooting power.
He scored a wonder goal for Kwara United in their 2-1 victory over Remo Stars back in February, his contribution has earned him a nomination for the Sportflames/Kwara United player of the season award.
The winner of the award will be determined by votes from Sports Journalist and fans via an online voting portal
this will allow fans and journalists the chance to vote for their preferred Sportflames/Kwara United player of the season.
