The first match involving Ekiti United fc at the NNL Super 8 went down as one of the matches on day 1, the last game of the day was played under the flood light and the weather was cool as it began with average intensity though Remo Stars who were familiar with astro turf took the fight to Ekiti United right from the blast of the whistle.

JKF Boys stood firm to maintain a good balance despite two unfamiliar factors namely astro turf and flood light which the team was not familiar with, A defensive lacuna in the 30th minute gave Remo Stars a deserved opening goal as a player pounced on the ball from a square play flung at him from the right flank.

Joshua Oladeji , in goal for Ekiti United had no answer to it; but the team regrouped and tried to do the needful by searching for an equalizer which never came in the first half.

On resumption for the second half, coach Samson Omiponle of Ekiti United brought in the duo of Pius Ojo and Kamaru Adebari whose inclusion added some spice to the attack of Ekiti United but Remo Stars defence was rock solid.

The controversial moment came in 58th minute when a player of Remo stars fell down inside the box of Ekiti United hoping to get the attention of the Referee and a player of Ekiti United was also hacked down at the edge of the box reeling in pain.

The injuries to the two players got some Ekiti United players distracted as they called on the Referee to attend to them but he ignored and waved play on, Remo Stars who looked hungrier capitalized on that distraction and caught Ekiti United unawares for the second goal.

Officials of Ekiti United immediately shouted foul for the referee's refusal to respect the fair play rule in football thereby giving the former premier league team an advantage to increase the goal tally.

Ekiti United did not get their hearts together as from that moment as they conceded the third goal 58th minute into the game and that was how it ended.

Ekiti United will today Wednesday play their second match against another wounded Bendel Insurance who lost 2 -1 against Shooting Stars of Ibadan despite scoring first via an early penalty.

Shooting Stars will lock horns with Remo Stars in a match that could boost the chances of whoever is going to top the Group B at the NNL Super 8, Thursday is the last group game as Ekiti United will face Shooting Stars and Remo Stars will face Bendel Insurance.
