Coach Abdul Maikaba, former Technical Adviser of the uyo based team and newly crowned NPFL Champion, Akwa United has sent a congratulatory message via Social media to the Chairman of the club Elder Paul Bassey and Coach Kennedy Boboye for guiding the team to their first league trophy after waiting anxiously for 25 years.

It will be recalled, Abdul Maikaba joined Akwa United in 2017 and won the maiden edition of the "AITEO CUP" and also finished second on the league table, he confirmed the great relationship between him and Elder Bassey while he was with the team before joining Plateau United in 2019,"

In his words," Dreams are the greatest gift, It is in dreaming the greatest dreams that we build the brightest tomorrow; One dream becomes real and a thousand dreams become possible.

" Akwa United F.C have achieved what their fans and the whole state will not forget in a rush after 25 years of trying to make a difference in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), they have made the moment count, they took their chances to do something positive, by forgetting about "should have" and "might have" they are worthy Champion because they have been in pursuit of the trophy some years back with so much determination and dedication.

" I say congratulations to Elder Paul Bassey, a rare gem, Chairman I respect so much, his style of leadership is totally different, his managerial skills are top notch and would make your job so easy as a Technical Adviser that will lead to success.”

To my friend and brother, Coach Kennedy Boboye wonderful tactician, really not something easy to win the league with two different clubs in the space of four years, that shows your quality and capabilities. Keep it up and please never loose focus, because now is when the real work start, to be crowned champion is really a huge task ahead.

Plateau United are currently 9th on the League Table, their last game of the season on Thursday would be against Rangers International and will be hoping for a decent result in Enugu to be able to finish among the top 10 teams on the log for the new season.
