Eastern Conference Major League Soccer Side, Montreal Impact announced on Tuesday the acquisition of 18-year-old Nigerian striker Sunusi Ibrahim, transferred from 36 Lion FC. 

Ibrahim signed a three-year contract, with an option for extra year extended to 2024, which will be confirmed upon reception of his international transfer certificate and medical examination.


The Club announced on their official website, " The Club is very happy to have completed the transfer of this young player, who is already part of his country’s U23 squad despite his young age," 

The sporting director of the team, Olivier Renard said, " It’s a great addition to the squad, especially considering several European clubs were very interested in him as well. Sunusi Ibrahim is a fast and powerful striker who can also play on the wings. "

In 2019, with Nasarawa United, Ibrahim was the leading scorer in the first division of the Nigerian professional league, with 10 goals in 22 games and won the Eunisell golden boot alongside Mfom Udoh of Akwa United.

With Nigeria’s U23 squad, he played three qualifying matches for the U23 Africa Cup of Nations, scoring against Zambia.


The deal will see Ibrahim wear Montreal Impact colours for the next three season, a team coached by former Arsenal player, Thiery Henry and also have former Barcelona forward Bojan Kirkic in the squad, a very good platform for his development, transferred from 36 Lion FC, with an option for year 2024.
