The New Exco's of Lagos State SWAN
The Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) and the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Lagos State Chapter have concluded plans to form a strategic partnership aimed at developing sports in the state.

The Chairman, Lagos State Sports Commission, Dr. Kweku Tandoh, described SWAN as a critical stakeholder in sports development.

Tandoh, who led other top functionaries of the commission on a courtesy visit to the SWAN secretariat on Friday, said that the commission and SWAN needed to have a good working relationship that would help in the promotion of sports development in the state.

In his address, Dr Tandoh congratulated the Debo Oshundun-led SWAN executive members on their recent elections.

I believe the visit will provide the members of the sports commission the opportunity to introduce ourselves to SWAN and hope for a good working relationship with media in the state.

``For us, sport journalists have a major role to play in the development of sports in the state. So, it is an advantage for us if the synergy is good.

``We see SWAN as stakeholders we need to work with if we must succeed.

``Let me; however, use this opportunity to reel out our areas of focus for sports development in the state.

The major area we want to give priority are; facility development, capacity building and school sports. So, we enjoin SWAN to partner with us in the workings of the commission," Tandoh said.

In his response, Oshundun assured the commission of SWAN’s support in its quest for sports development.

He commended the efforts of Tandoh-led commission aimed at uplifting sports development in the state.

``I want to assure you that the era of journalists and administrators having rancours are over, the association will  be available to support the commission with our wealth of experience and positive reportage,’’ Oshundun said.

He, however, appealed to the commission to have some confidence in the sport writers in order to provide incisive reports of their sporting activities.

The Lagos SWAN chairman called on the commission to ensure that SWAN members are considered for various roles in the sporting associations.

``For easy dissemination of information, I want to appeal to you to consider some of our members for board appointment of the various sports associations.

``This will help in reducing misinformation and distrust between journalists and the sports administrators,’’ Oshundun said.

Members of the commission at the parley are: Dr. Kayode Michael, Director of Sports Medicine, Mrs Tokunbo Bombata, Director of Admin and Human Resources, Kolawole Moses, Director of Sports Development, Adeogun Sunday, Head of ICT, department and Mrs Titi Oshodi-Eko, Head, Public Affairs among others.
