Coach Samson Unuanel
A former coach of Enyimba football club, Coach Samson Unuanel, has lamented that Nigerian football lacks the basic structure to meet up the demands of modern day football.

Speaking in an exclusive interview in Lagos, where he had led a group of youthful players from Ilorin to participate in a football trials, Samson Unuanel, described the present fortunes of Nigerian football as unfortunate.

" It is unfortunate that our football has not develop in a commensurate level to our potentials as a football playing nation," he quipped.

The former coach of Sunshine stars and Kwara United, was however, quick to blame the woes of Nigerian football on the lack of sustainable grassroots development programmes in the country.

" It is painful that our administrators are not focused on grassroots football development. There are no structures on ground to help the growth of our football.

" There is also a huge lacuna between our grassroots football and the professional cadre. We need to create a workable synergy to bridge this gap, " the Germany trained tactician stated.
