The game between Nasarawa United and Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC (ABS) in Lafia brought so much optimism with many believing the Saraki boys would do the impossible by pulling a win to secure their place in the apex league next season with other results going their way in other centres.
Oyedeji Samuel's spotkick in between former ABS favourite Seun sogbeso's well taken strikes was not enough as Nasarawa United recorded a victory over the Saraki boys sending them to the second tier of the Nigerian league.
In his post match interview, ABS gaffer Coach Henry Makinwa attributed to the fact that his wards were young and inexperienced.
"We worked with 17-18 players to execute the season, we started very well in the first round but became tired in the second round because we couldn't reinforce the team with tested players during the mid season break, the boys became tired mentally, physically and emotionally, tactically it was only 13-14 players that played regularly all through the season. When quizzed about his experience in his very first season in the NPFL, he said

We have achieved about 90% of our objectives this year, 60-70% of this players will not be with ABS next season, they are going to bigger clubs".
The Coach who reacted to the question of the club Proprietor not funding the club to sign top quality players been the Senate President of the federation,
"To compete with the millionaire clubs will definitely be difficult, clubs like Enyimba, Akwa United, FC Ifeanyi Uba et al have players from different African countries while my boys are school boys picked on the road trying to make them compete, I'm proud of them to be candid.
If I travel to Ghana, Cameroon and Togo to bring in players then the Objectives of our Proprietor to groom and nurture youngsters from the grassroot would have been defeated, he concluded".
