Bayelsa United compound the woes of Ikorodu United in the match day sixteen of the Nigeria national league with a one zero win  over Visitors Ikorodu United.

Coach Ere Dokubo made three changes from the team that lost to Heartland in weekend Mutiu Ogundimu in place of Lazadi monami while Sadiq Adbul replace Okeke Uche in midfield. Benjamin Nwaogu's goal in the 70th minute goal was the highlight of game, In a match that was filled with many scoring opportunity including Samuel Akinibinu's 18th minute penalty missed.

The restoration boys however could have gone one nil up in 36th minute but Sadiq Adbul effort which saved by Ikorodu United goalkeeper Fatunase Oluwasegun. The second half resumed with Bayelsa United mounting pressure on Ikorodu United but the duo of Bologun Johnson and Rafiu Monsoro were defensively conscious to ensure that they return to Lagos at least with a  point after last weekend disappointing three two defeat at home to  As- Racine in the Lagos derby.

The Visitors Best chance of the game however came in the 80th through a solo move from Jude Aneke which was saved by Bayelsa United goalie Opubo Japheth.

With this victory  Restoration Boys are now on twenty Nine points after sixteen games three points adrift of leaders Heartland Fc and Crown Fc. Bayelsa United will next battle My people Fc of Lagos on Saturday in Lagos. 

After the game technical adviser of Bayelsa United Doabere Dokubo said he's pleased  with the result, He however expressed concern about his team inability to convert created opportunity. "He said this is a game that we ought to have scored more than one goal because we created the chances but we  couldn't convert them but the most pertinent thing is the three points said Ere Dokubo"
