Freestan football club on Monday won the maiden edition of the Ekofootball Easter Beach Soccer Fiesta organised by Lagos FA. 
The one day soccer tourney which was held at the high-brow Hard Rock Cafe, Victoria Island, Lagos, featured Destiny Boys, Freestan fc, Collin Edwin fc and New Generation Academy, who tussled for diadem in the competitive half of the event. While FCB Bescola and MTN traded tackles in the corporate half of the epochal and fun-filled beach soccer fiesta. 

In the opening game, Freestan fc thrashed Destiny Boys 7-2, to qualify for the final of the tourney. And the second game, New Generation Academy defeated Collin Edwin fc 5-3, to set up a mouth watering finale. 
The exhibition game between MTN and FCB Bescola was another thriller. At the end of the match, the youthful Bescola side lost to the better experienced MTN team 4-6. 
The third placed match saw a resurgent Collin Edwin defeating Destiny Boys by 6-3. 
The thorougly exciting event allowed had musical interludes to spice it up and leading up to the final game that did not disappoint the impressive crowd. 

Expectedly, the final game was indeed, a testimony of the abundance of youthful and talented footballers in the state. It was end to end actions with New Generation Academy running up with two quick fire goals in the first quater. Unrelenting, Freestan hit back with three goals in the second quater, that saw the crowd that included Lagos FA Chairman and 1st Vice President of the NFF, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, President of the Nigeria Referees Association and Vice Chairman, Lagos FA, Tade Azeez, Godwin Dudu - Orumen, Ademola Beecroft, Collin Udoh and several other distinguished individuals, on the edges of their seats. 

The final quater of the game, New Generation levelled the score to 3-3. Minutes after, Freestan fc scored the winner to make it 4-3. And thus claiming the title as the winner of the tourney. 
Speaking earlier, Tade Azeez, who doubles as the Chairman of the Lagos FA Beach Soccer Committee, expressed delight with the turn-out of guests and particularly, the high level of the competition and the sportsmanship displayed by the teams. 
On his part, Akinwunmi enthused that beach soccer is growing in acceptance in the country. Adding that the state would not relent on its avowed commitment to the development of the game in the country.
