It was indeed an wholesome of quality games featuring top-notch performances from teams as the maiden edition of Evolution Cup which kicked off on Monday at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

Expectedly, nothing short of standard when Olansile FC and Hammola opened the tournament with a five-goal thriller.

The game, which had earlier gathered momentum as Osun-derby owing to the location of both teams from the same State heralded what could be adjudged as the best of soccer artistry. 

Olugola Kehinde became the cynosure of eyes in the game as he struck a hat trick in the encounter. His classical cum heroic performance in front of goal was all Olansile FC needed to seal a deserved 4-1 victory over their noisy opponents.

Fans and supporters alike were once again thrown into another frenzy mood in the second game of the day between Ilaji FC and Olukismet FC.


The encounter, which ended in a 2-2 draw witnessed a battle of tactics and techniques to the delight of many as both teams stamped went on to stamp their presence on the scoreline.

The third encounter of the day  saw Right2Win proving their name as they defeated Rolly FC 3-2 to lord the Eastern-derby.

Mouth-watering goals and a tense-laden clash, John Alozie highlighted the clash with a brace that cumulated in to his team eventual victory.

It was another sparkling moments in the last game of the day between Beyond Limits FA and Abraysports FC. 

Even while the teams played out a goalless draw in the first half, Abraysports fell gallantly to the highly tactical Beyond who pushed the Ilorin side to their limits in the second half- conceding four goals in the last quarter of the game.

Iboro Victory struck twice in the goal onslaught of Beyond Limits with Agbeko Morgan and Aderibigbe Paul scoring a goal each.


Abraysports eventually got their consolation through Abdullahi Hadi late in the game.

SGFC Athletics and Magic Stars who were drawn bye on the first day would taste action on Tuesday in their separate encounters.

Organised to help NLO teams have adequate preparations ahead of the new season, Evolution Cup is sponsored by Alphakay International Sport and packaged by Sportsflames Communication.

Action continues on Tuesday at 8 am when Beyond Limits FA takes on Magic Stars FC and Right2Win also roll out their aces against Abraysports at 10am in the Group B fixtures

In Group A, SGFC Athletics will tackle Hammola FC at 2pm while
Olansile FC have also been billed to lock horns with Ilaji FC at 4pm.

As occasioned by the fixtures schedules, Olukismet FC and Rolly FC are drawn bye tommorow and would return to the pitch on Wednesday.
