It was a bizarre showing from some fans of Dakkada FC of Uyo as they took laws into their own hands after they attacked some officials of Remo Stars during the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) Matchday 4 fixture in Uyo which ended in a stalemate.

The officials that were assaulted were the General Manager of the Sky Blues Stars, Ekene Adams, Michael Onikute (Club Secretary), Dahiru Ilu (Goalkeeper Coach) and Sino (Kits Manager).

Hell was let loose on the quartet at halftime after irate fans numbering about 10 made their way to the dressing room to threaten the match officials and officials of Remo Stars.

The recall result at the break was 1-1, as Oriyomi Lawal had put Dakkada ahead in the 12th minute, while Samuel Anakwe equalised for the Remo Stars four minutes before the break.

Recounting the ordeal, Adams said: "It's sad that some fans perceived to be 'Stadium Thugs' are been used by some unscrupulous club administrators to cause mayhem in our league.

" I mean, how would security agents turn a blind eye by conniving with the home team, by allowing thugs to walk towards the dressing rooms of the referees and away team to threaten them.

" We were outside ours when they came shouting on top of their voices that the referees must give them the 3points else they won't leave Uyo alive. They then walked towards us and

" In the process, they slapped and punched I and Onikute, our goalkeeper coach and kit manager who tried to calm things, were not spared as they were slapped and manhandled. Glory be to God that we left the stadium with lives and the point but it was not a good experience.

" There was nothing like sportsmanship in Uyo as the club officials made us look like orphans, leaving us to face any consequences good or bad.

" I want to ask, is it now a crime to take points on the road. We did against MFM FC no such thing, and we dropped points in our home game against Nasarawa United, Remo Stars fans never attacked any player or official of the Solid Miners, so why is that of Dakkada different," a furious Adams asked.

Meanwhile, the Gbenga Ogunbote’s side tops the NPFL standings with 8 points with five goals. Remo Stars who are now unbeaten in their last two league games will host Plateau United on Sunday in Ikenne.
