The Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Asiwaju Seun Fakorede, has applauded the state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde for his efforts at taking sports in the state to the next level.
He also commended the efforts of the governor to change the lives of youths in the state with his commitment to youth development programmes.
Speaking after the state helmsman presented brand new buses to Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan and Crown FC of Ogbomoso at the governor's office on Wednesday, Asiwaju Fakorede said the moral boosting gesture will spur both teams to perform well in the incoming league season.
"As we all know, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, is so committed to the success of the state in sports as well as the development of our youth and this he has continued to demonstrate.
"Today's (Wednesday) official handing over of buses to both 3SC and Crown, is another testament to this fact. This has never happened before in the history of the state, where a governor will present buses to the two clubs at a time. Indeed, His Excellency is setting another pace", hinted Asiwaju Fakorede.

Continuing, he said. "The Governor Seyi Makinde's administration will continue to provide the necessary resources to promote sporting activities as a means of empowerment among our young people in Oyo State".
" As the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, I appreciate the Governor for fulfilling his promises and for always investing in Sports Development in the State. It is however my utmost belief that this motivation will help enhance the performances of the state's football teams, Shooting Stars and Crown FC, in their respective leagues", the commissioner stated.
He however charged the management of the two teams, to reciprocate the good gesture of the governor by going ahead to deliver when the season starts, promising more goodies from the state government.
" For Shooting Stars, they should mark their return to the NPFL with good performance and return continental football to the state, which is one of the greatest aspirations of His Excellency and for Crown, promotion to the elite league should be their major ambition this season", Fakorede summed up his words.
