Victor Osimhen had to be rushed to the San Raffaele Hospital for tests, after he was diagnosed with head trauma as Napoli suffered a first league loss going down 3-2 at Inter Milan on Sunday, according to an online reports.
Osimhen suffered multiple face fractures following a thudding clash of heads during Napoli’s defeat at Inter Milan, the Serie A leaders said on Sunday.
According to a statement, Napoli confirmed that tests revealed “multiple displaced fractures of the left eye socket and cheekbone” after being flattened in an aerial challenge with Inter defender Milan Skriniar. He was visibly dazed and his face was badly swollen as he staggered off the pitch at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
It was an accidental clash of heads as they both went for the ball, but Osimhen was caught on the cheekbone by the back of Skriniar’s head and came off much worse.
Nigeria forward Osimhen managed to walk off the pitch, clearly dazed and with a swollen face, during Sunday’s thrilling showdown between Italian title contenders, won 3-2 by Inter.

Napoli did not say for how long they expected Osimhen, who has scored five Serie A goals this season and a further four in the Europa League, is expected to be out of action.
He is also not new to head injuries, as last term he was knocked unconscious when landing awkwardly, hitting the back of his head on the turf.
Because of that, and a loss of memory, Osimhen was out for several weeks due to concussion protocols.
Inter blew the title race wide open with the hard fought win against Luciano Spalletti side.
Despite the first defeat for Napoli this season, they still stay top on 32 points ahead of AC Milan on superior goals while Inter are third on 28 points.
