Engr Musa Kida, the Nigeria Basketball Federation's caretaker Chairman, has sworn in the 2021 NBBF Electoral Committee and Appeals Committee.
On Thursday, the historic event, which was codified in the 2019 NBBF constitution and marked the official start of their electoral duties, took place via zoom.

Dr. Lanre Glover (Chairman), Alh. Mohammed Sani Fema (Vice-Chairman), Dr. Femi Olugbile (Member), Mrs. Hauwa Kulu-Akinyemi (Member), and Mr. Emmanuel Okibe, who will serve as the Electoral Committee's Secretary, were all present for the swearing-in ceremony.

Despite the absence of Mrs. Ize Matebese, Chairman of the Appeals Committee, other members, led by General David Lubo (rtd.) and Emmanuel Zira (Secretary), were present for the historic event.

The oath of office was delivered by Barr. John Iyakwari, a senior lawyer from the Federal Ministry of Justice.

While speaking to the committee, Kida expressed his gratitude for accepting the critical responsibility that would influence the future of basketball in Nigeria.

"I want to express my gratitude for responding to this national call to service. This is significant and historic since it would be the first time in Nigerian basketball history that such an event will be held ".

"This is significant for all stakeholders, and it also puts the constitution to the test once more. We have faith in this group's ability to carry out their responsibilities ".

Prof. Florence Adeyanju, another member of the NBBF caretaker committee, reminded the committee of the importance of treating everyone fairly.

"We've granted you complete freedom to carry out your responsibilities as outlined in the constitution. We are confident in your abilities, which is why you have all been hand-picked for this critical project, which is the first of its type ".

"You will go down in history as the first constitutionally recognized Electoral and Appeals Committee of the NBBF which is very huge and we will continue to pray for you to succeed"

Following official notification of the 2021 elections, a high-powered group from the Federation of International Basketball Associations (FIBA) will assault the historic city of Benin.

At its most recent meeting in Abuja, the Congress confirmed October 30 as the date for the NBBF election in Benin, Edo state.
