Newly appointed Technical Adviser of Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL side, Enyimba International Football Club, Finidi George has expressed optimism on the preparedness of the team ahead of their first leg, second round CAF Confederation Cup clash with Diambers of Senegal. 

Finidi, former Super Eagles midfielder said after the eight-time NPFL champions were held to a goalless draw in a friend by fellow CAF Confederation Cup campaigners, Bayelsa United that the People’s Elephant need few areas to tidy up ahead of their trip to Senegal on Saturday next week.


After the goalless draw on Saturday, the former Ajax player said," We still have a few things to take care of which definitely I will talk with the players. For the rest, we will be okay.”

The 1995 UEFA Champions League winner with Ajax led Enyimba FC into their first preseason friendly on Saturday as the People’s Elephant played out a goalless draw against Bayelsa United at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The teams used the fixture to prepare for their respective CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round fixtures in a fortnight, with Enyimba lining up a strong field captained by Emmanuel Ampiah.

The People’s Elephant dominated the opening half, striking the upright on two occasions, while Sadiq Abubakar also came close.

Speaking after the game, head coach Finidi George said," I am very, very happy that we could see what we have been doing for over two weeks. I am quite happy with the way the players played especially in the first half, It's so satisfying, but we can still do better.

The return leg of the encounter will hold at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, Abia State on 22nd October.
