Coach Alex Nwora
Coach Alex Nwora remains a vital component of the senior men's national basketball team's technical set-up, as well as the Nigerian basketball family, according to the Nigeria Basketball Federation.
The federation stated that the technical team is still intact, while also clarifying previous claims that Coach Nwora would quit after the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Following the arrival of famed Golden State Warriors coach Mike Brown, Nwora was designated Associate Head Coach after leading the team to a silver medal at the 2017 FIBA Afrobasket in Tunisia and a trip to the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

While reviewing the team's performance during the games on Monday in Lagos, NBBF President Engr Musa Kida stated the coaching staff stays intact and will work closely with Brown.

“Coach Alex Nwora has had few personal health challenges in recent times,” Kida stated, explaining what sparked the rumors. He has also stated that he wants to be more present in his role as coach of the collegiate team (Erie College).

Due to his recent hectic schedule and increasing commitment with the Erie Men's Basketball team, the federation announced that Nwora will be on a "touch and go" basis with the squad, alongside assistant coach Mfon Udofia, who will be there full-time.

Kida praised Nwora for his dedication to the growth of basketball in Nigeria.

When it came on board in 2017, Nwora was hailed as one of the rays of hope at a time when the federation desperately needed patriotic Nigerians.

“His labor of love and sacrifice will not be forgotten. His dedication was unsurpassed, and he has etched his name in the annals of our basketball program.

“Everyone is there and will be available as soon as they are able to join the team, and I have complete faith in them.”
