What turned out to be an own goal orchestrated by Nwagua Nyima's aerial pressure handed Sunshine Stars FC a narrow loss to Kano Pillars in a matchday 12 encounter at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, Wednesday.

The Owena Whales who are enduring a poor run of form almost drew level in the 13' through top scorer, Sadeeq Yusuf who could not just stir Emmanuel James' in-swinger on target from few yards out.

In the 21' minute Waheed Adebayo again showed a glimer of what Sunshine Stars were up to, rattling Kano Pillars goalkeeper with a long range effort.

Another chance for an equalizer presented itself in the 37th minute, but Sadeeq Yusuf blazed over while Adebayo was waiting for a perfect pass.

Sunshine Stars handler, Gbenga Ogunbote rang some changes in the second half, throwing Kolade Adeniji and Ibrahim Ajani into the fray.

The former went close to scoring as well, but his header off a free kick from Alaba Adeniyi went inches over the bar.
