At the beginning of the year, director of Kaunas Žalgiris club Eimantas Pūras together with the head coach of the team Rokas Garastas visited Nigeria and watched the Kwara State Football Academy tournament to see raw talented footballers with the hope of signing one or two to fortify their team in Lithuania.

There, representatives of the club looked at talented local footballers, and several of them recommended themselves and got a chance to prove their value, displaying skills, strength and character to the delight of the technical crew from Europe.

Although talented players were prevented from arriving in Lithuania last season by Covid19 pandemic in the world, 24-year-old midfielder Emmanuel Ugbo and 18-year-old attacking midfielder Abdulgafar Opeyemi have arrived Kaunas from Nigeria to start preparations for the new season with Kauno Žalgiris.

Upon arrival in Lithuania, both footballers will train individually for the main time with coaches of the Kauno Žalgiris team, and also pass medical examination before joining the trainings of the team that will start preparing for new season in the beginning of January next year.

According to the Coach Rokas Garastas, he said," Over time, we will try to prepare these players for the main team and we hope that they will strengthen it with their good qualities.

" These footballers have grown up in a different football culture and environment, so proper orientation and integration with them over time should give our game new colors and opportunities.

Also the team captain Linas Pilibaitis briefly introduced Abdulgafar and Ugbo to the rest of the players with two Nigerian decent, Philip Otele and Emmanuel David.
