Fidelis Ilechukwu, Head Coach of Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) team, Heartland has informed that his grassroot football championships, Fidelis Ilechukwu Super 8 & 6 will serve as a platform for him, his assistants and scout to shop for talented players for his team.

One of the tourney billed for Jos, which was at the semi-final stage would have been concluded if not for the curfew declared by the Plateau State Government owing to the spate of violence and criminality which trailed the End SARS protests in Jos, the State capital. While the one for Owerri will kickoff on Wednesday, 28th October, at the Township Stadium.

Ilechukwu, a former U-23 Assistant Coach told sports journalists in Owerri: "Now that football is back after the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 lifted its ban on contact sports, the  tournament will serve as the needed platform for me to scout for talented players.

" During my brief stay in Lagos a few weeks ago, I took my time going the nooks and crannies to shop players, behold I was impressed with what I saw from these youngsters.

" Like it's happening in Jos, same opportunity I want to give to talented players based here in Owerri as I believe that players taking part in the Fidelis Ilechukwu Super 6 will show their quality and exhibit their skills during the 2-day event.
