As we eagerly await the resumption of football and other sporting activities in the country, the Ekiti state football association has rolled out the schedule of competitions and other events for the 2020/2021 football season.

In a release signed by the Secretary, Ekiti state football association Mr Boluwaji Idowu, he stated that the state is ready to follow the safety directives of the federal government and the Nigeria football federation in curbing Covid 19 when sporting activities resumes.


He further highlighted the schedule which begins this October to December with Ekiti state school football festival which will include Headmaster's Cup for primary schools,  Kings cup for the junior secondary schools and Principals' cup for senior secondary school boys and girls.


Next year begins with the governors cup currently known as the JKF youth cup for U-17 boys and girls,  while work continues in building the FA U-13 and 17 boys and girls teams knows as Ekiti baby bees, Ekiti bees and Ekiti queen bees respectively.

March and April will see the state FA organizing the oldest competition in the country which is the state FA Cup which is in male and female categories.

The season continues to get groovy when the state league gets underway in May with foremost betting company Bet9ja bankrolling the state league. 

There would also be capacity building of sports personnel as the association has concluded plans for the commencement training of young referees and coaches in the 16 local football councils


The state U-13 and U-15 teams will participate in the southwest Zenith bank future Champions competition, while the season ends September 2021 with Ekiti bees, Ekiti queen bees and Ekiti baby bees playing series of friendly matches while attending both local and international competitions.
