Nigeria Professional Football League side Rivers United have signed Goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai and Defender Ifeanyi Anaemena from Enyimba. 

Afelokhai has been the trusted safe hands as he played for two different teams in the past 10 years, including teams such as Kano Pillars and Enyimba.

Afelokhai has also established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the NPFL during his time at Kano Pillars before joining Enyimba. He did not feature for any of the national youth teams Flying Eagles and Golden Eaglets at any major tournaments.

He was a key part of the national U-23 Dream Team squad to 2011 CAF U-23 Championship as Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Born in Nigeria on April 7, 1990 Theophilus Joel Afelokhai is 30-years-old. Theophilus Afelokhai is a known veteran in the Nigerian Professional Football League.

He started his career in the lower tier of football in the country but has become of the best domestic shot-stoppers in the country.

Afelokhai was also part of the home-based Super Eagles team to the 2018 African Nations Championship in Morocco.

Meanwhile, Ifeanyi Anaemena the vice captain of Aba based side has also agreed terms with the re-branded club for an undisclosed fees and he has been unveiled as well this afternoon in Portharcourt. 

Present at the short signing and unveiling  ceremony which took place on Tuesday are Rivers United chairman Okey Kpalokwu, Rivers United head coach Stanley Eguma to mention few.
