Nigeria U17 captain Samson Tijani has finally agreed to join FC Red Bull Salzburg and put an end to speculation over his future in the process.

Tijani was targetted by some of European top sides, but the player and his representatives agree a deal with the Austrian giants because of the strong development program for youths

According to Collins Edwin Sports Club Statement, they confirm the official transfer of their former player Tijani Samson Okikiola to FC Red Bull Salzburg on a 5-year contract. 

" We thank Borga for his services and efforts throughout his time with us, capping it up with leading the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria to the nations cup and the world cup. We wish him a resounding success throughout his career.

The 18-year-old plays in defensive midfield and signs a contract in Salzburg until May 2025, he recently captain Nigeria Under-17 national team, with whom he made it to the semifinals of the Africa Cup and the round of 16 of the World Cup. 

The 18-year-old feels particularly comfortable in the role of the six and is characterized by his dynamic and uncompromising style of play," both at club level and National team.

Tijani will now join fellow African’s namely, Majeed Ashimeru from Ghana, Jérôme Onguéné from Cameroon, Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu from Zambia, Sékou Koïta and Mohamed Camara from Mali and finally the Nigerian-German striker Karim Adeyemi who are on the book of the club.
