Peter Osaze Odemwingie in Stoke City Colours

Former Lille and Stoke City star Peter Osaze Odemwingie says he is considering going into football management, but need some badges in football coaching but for now still  focusing on golf because he has developed genuine passion for it.”

The former Bendel Insurance player also revealed his desire to go into football administration, after playing in different countries, speaks a lot of languages, and still see a lot of opportunities to coach but golf seems to have taken over.


According to Odemwingie, " I love football management and coaching so much, but i think the golf game caught my attention so much that made me put the football on hold.”

" In about three to four years, I would like to become a football coach,” the former player said on Instagram live session, at the moment the plan is to spend as much time as possible with my kids. 


" I travelled a lot during my career and didn’t get to spend as much time with them as I would have wanted, but now I’m enjoying being a father and playing my role.

" Now I’m into golf because that gives me the knowledge about other sports and the knowledge I need about football coaching but for now, I’m focusing on golf because I have genuine passion for it."

" Golf is my priority now but football is a plan B for me. Hopefully, I can get one degree in management, that can help me in the administrative circle for the federation in the future. The more ammunition you have, the better,” he added.


Odemwingie made his debut for the Super Eagles in May 2002 and went on to play in four Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments, two FIFA World Cup competitions and the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing where he won a silver medal with Nigeria’s U23 team.

He made 63 appearances for Nigeria and scored 10 times. The winger scored 36 goals in 129 Premier League appearances..


He also had stint with West Bromwich Albion, where he was voted EPL player of the month also with Cardiff City and Stoke City in the English Premier League.
