With Spain’s La Liga continuing its return from lockdown with matches from Thursday through Saturday, Nigerian fans are super excited seeing more of their favourite sons strut their stuff – albeit in empty stadiums!
Our star player Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze, feature for Villarreal when they face Celta Vigo at Abanca Balaidos Saturday afternoon and really showed the stuff he's made off with mesmerizing skills.
The Yellow Submarine came into the clash placed eighth on the log, seven points adrift of a spot in next season’s UEFA Europa League, hoping for a win to keep hope alive of European competition next season, and Chukwueze was introduced in the 58th minutes of the game to replace Gerard Moreno, they won the game 0-1 and will be returning home with all three points secured
The 2019-20 campaign has been a learning curve for Chukwueze, who has not quite managed to replicate the form he showed last season. He has managed just three goals and one assist, though the Nigerian’s efforts have been hampered by injury and an inability to establish himself as a regular starter: just half of his 26 league appearances have been in the starting XI.

With the season effectively ‘reset’ by the coronavirus, Chukwueze now has the chance to end 2019-20 on a high. If the Super Eagles star can get back to his devastating best, it could not only help Villarreal possibly sneak into Europe for next season, but also increase his value as a sought-after target in the transfer market.
Other Nigerian stars in La Liga, that also returned to action with their various clubs include Oghenekaro Etebo, he played all 90 minutes for Getafe on Friday, while Ramon Azeez was an unused substitute for Granada.
Chidozie Awaziem and Kenneth Omeruo also featured the entire duration for Leganes in their home defeat to Real Valladolid on Saturday, the Nigeria Combo could rescue his team from the defeat which further condemn them to Relegation zone.
