Nigeria international Brown Ideye has broken his silence after being snubbed for his national team’s 2014 FIFA World Cup squad.

The former West Brom forward not feature at football’s biggest showpiece in 2014, despite playing in an important role in the team’s qualification under the late Stephen Keshi.

The then Super Eagles manager decided to turn his attention to the likes of Peter Odemwingie, Emmanuel Emenike, Uche Nwofor and Michael Uchebo instead.

“At that point I was not really worried. I already heard the rumours that my agent was the one who told the late Stephen Keshi to drop me,” Brown Ideye recalled during an interview session with WhatsApp Group Writers Lounge on Monday.

The Ocean Boys product was linked with a move to English outfit West Brom in 2014, a deal that eventually materialised.

“At that point I sacked my agent because he tried to stop me from making the West Brom move. I had to fire him and engaged the services of a UK based agent who facilitated my move to the Hawthorns.”

“I was a bit down but as soon as I signed everything was fine. That made me forget everything that happened,” he added.

The Aris Thessaloniki forward lists Bayelsa United, Ocean Boys, Neuchâtel Xamax, Sochaux, Dynamo Kyiv, Olympiacos, Tianjin Teda and Málaga as his former clubs.
