This is very sad. Ifeanyi George is dead. I just got back home after travelling with some officials from Enugu to the scene of the accident immediately we heard the news. It was too tragic," Bar. Ezeaku lamented to Francis Achi exclusively.

" You know players like to travel in convoy. They travelled in a convoy and it was a smooth journey until the accident occurred. Ifeanyi was trying to overtake a car, but the driver brought out his hand from the window to signal caution, but Ifeanyi, who was not a regular highway driver did not get the message.

" Perhaps, the driver of the car he overtook had seen the truck that was stationed on the road, unmoveable and he tried to pass the message when he sent the signal to Ifeanyi.

" Sadly, he overtook and hit the truck, killing him and the other two passengers. Ifeanyi's friend, Eteka Gabriel who came from Calabar was inside the vehicle and Emmanuel Ogbu,a player in Team B of Rangers.

" The management of Rangers International Football Club of Enugu deeply saddened with this unfortunate incident and we are in touch with his family," he concluded.

The players were given break in order to be with their families as precautionary measure due to outbreak of Coronavirus since the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
