Nigeria Women Under 17 football team, Flamingoes will travel to Guinea for their first round first leg clash on Wednesday, February 26, 2020.

The Olowookere Bankole tutored side have been in camp for almost a month now, impacting the girls with proper footballing techniques to ensure qualification for the next world cup after missing out at the last Edition.

The flamingoes were able to showcase little of what they have learnt so far by playing three (3) friendly games ahead of Guinea clash, against Mees Palace U13 3-2, Abuja All Stars Ladies 6-1 before thrashing Naija Ratels 5-0 making it a total of 14 goals scored and conceding 4 goals, Osun Babes’ Goal poacher Yemisi Samuel scoring 7 goals in 3 matches for Flamingoes.

" It’s been so challenging for me because there are several talented players doing decent work in my role, but with the help of God and hardwork I put during training session, I have been able to overcome the challenges.” Yemisi Samuel said.

As a striker, I think the main target of a striker should be scoring goals, putting the ball into the net. By doing that, it will make my team win their opponents as well as with the help of coaches.

" My coach do say that the first thing a striker should think of is scoring goals and that is what I have been doing with God’s help and I hope to score more goals when we play Guinea.” Flamingoes highest goal scorer conclude.

The first leg of the encounter between Guinea and Nigeria will hold in Conakry on Sunday, 1st March, 2020, and the return leg at Soccer Temple, Agege Stadium, Lagos, a fortnight after.
