John Obi Mikel has made it clear that AFCON 2019 will be his last for the Super Eagles.

He was part of the squad that won the 2013 Nations Cup title in South Africa under late Keshi.

Mikel now wants the Super Eagles to win the 2019 Nations Cup title as a farewell gift for him, John Obi Mikel who is the captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria has admitted that the AFCON 2019 will be his last tournament for his country. 

The former Chelsea star is currently in Egypt with the Super Eagles who are preparing to face South Africa in the AFCON 2019 quarterfinal on Wednesday, July 10 at the Cairo International Stadium.

Mikel Obi, Ahmed Musa and Kenneth Omeruo are the only three Super Eagles players who were in late Stephen Keshi's squad that won the 2013 Nations Cup in South Africa and are playing in Egypt presently.

Presently, John Obi Mikel is injured and missed Nigeria's last two games against Madagascar and Cameroon, but the the 32-year-old believes his presence will help his teammates. 

"Thirteen years I think is enough. I've won trophies, I've had a lot of amazing time. 

"I think it's time for these young guys to carry on. "I'm mostly here in Egypt to support the young guys and make sure they're on the right track. 

"I think my presence is always important for them, hopefully I can finish with the trophy "If we are able to win it here, I'll be proud and they'll be proud, then they can carry on from here,'' Mikel Obi told the media.

Meanwhile, Mikel Obi has played 89 games for the Super Eagles of Nigeria and also featured for the Super Eagles at the last two World Cup in Brazil and Russia.

He started his Footballing career with Plateau United before moving to Oslo in Norway, his performance with Oslo caused controversies between Chelsea and Manchester United,  where he later signed for Chelsea Football Club where he shone like a million stars; he signed recently for Tranzpor in Turkey where he is expected to spend two season.
