This is a terrible blow to Eagles boss Gernot Rohr who sees the ex Flying Eagles ace as important to his plans at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
“It is unfortunate Moses Simon will not be travelling with the team on Tuesday because he is down with an injury,” Rohr disclosed on Sunday. The Nigerian forward, who plays on both right and left side of midfield made an impressive Nigeria debut on 25 March 2015 in an international friendly against Uganda, when he replaced Anthony Ujah after 59 minutes in the game.
He scored his first goal for Nigeria in an international friendly against Niger on 8 September 2015, the second in a 2-0 win.
He also played a key role in beating Zambia to secure qualification for the World Cup in Russia, which begins on 13 June.
Moses exclusion now means that Rohr will pick his final 23-man World Cup squad from the remaining 29 players to be announced on 4 June.
