Olukoya Boys Celebrates their only goal against Kwara United
Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries FC beat Kwara United 1-0 courtesy of a second half goal by Adebayo Waheed in one of Matchday 2 fixtures of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) played on Wednesday at the Soccer Temple, Agege Stadium.

MFM FC made two changes to the team that played Abia Warriors in the first away game of the new season. Olatunbosun Sikiru and Abayomi Lawal replaced Adegboyega Adekunle and Nasamu Emmanuel respectively in Wednesday's line up while goalkeeper, Folarin Abayomi and others kept their places.

Kwara United began the entertaining match with the first kick of the ball and put few passes together before surrendering the ball to the hosts.

Tchato Giscard made the first impact of the game  in the 17th minute of the encounter when he tested the visitors goalkeeper, Jonah Usman with an audacious shot but his effort was saved.


The Harmony Boys put themselves together after Tchato's attempt on goal and later dictated the play of the game. The first 45 minutes ended in a barren draw for both teams.

In their search for the first goal of the game, the two teams' coaches made early substitutions. John Obuh of Kwara United introduced Kayode Agboola for Alfred Stephen while Fidelis Ilechukwu brought in Akuneto Chijioke for Ammeh Wilfred.

A well orchestrated counte attacking move initiated by Onuwa Chukwuka from the middle of the park produced the only goal of the game. Okorom Stanley connected a long pass in the 51st minute of the exchange from Opara Austine and delivered a low cross to Adebayo Waheed and the striker put the ball past Kwara United goalkeeper.

MFM FC dominated the better part of the second half with beautiful passing skills and had a chance to double the lead in the 75th of the minute match but Akuneto's effort from distance could not beat Jonah Usman.

The 80th minute of the thrilling match presented a golden opportunity for the visitors to get the equalizer but Kayode Agboola's attempt went inches wide. The game ended in a 1-0 triumph for the Lagos-based team.


With the victory, MFM FC now moved from the 19th spot on the NPFL table to 12th position with three points from two league matches.
