ANUOLUWAPO, KROBAPOR RENEW RIVALY IN LAGOS
Four days after the 1ST katsina Golden star Badminton tournament,Champion and Africa’s No 2 ranked Player Clement Krobapor has been warned by Africa’s NO 6 ranked player Anuoluwapo Opeyori to expect a tough duel as the 1st Mutual Benefits National  Badminton championship gets underway on Wednesday. In an interview with the Federation’s official website www.badmintonnigeria.org Anuolwapo who lost to Krobapor  1-2 in the Final  stated that he is motivated to win the  1st Mutual Benefits National Badminton championship because he is playing in front of his home fans and he hopes to draw  positive inspiration from their  support.

“Katsina Golden Star National Badminton championship has come and gone. I am playing in my state and I will be motivated with the support. My advise for Krobapor and others who want the title is to expect war.”Anuoluwapo concluded. In a swift reply while speaking to www.badmintonnigeria.org Clememt Krobapor  who arrived Lagos on Tuesday says he is aware of the renewed Rivalry in the Men’s singles event but admitted it will also provide him the test ahead of the International Series coming up in Zambia and South Africa later in the year.

“it’s about pressure because everybody wants to beat  the best players and be a champion. I am ready for the task in Lagos and I am confident these championships will prepare me for two tournaments in Zambia and South Africa.

Badminton Championship in Katsina State
In the Women’s category Dorcas Adesokan ,Tosin Atolagbe Davies, Deborah Ukeh,Zainab Mommoh  and Peace Orji have confirmed their participation in the 1st Mutual Benefits National Badminton championship with Dorcas winner in Katsina also preparing for Two International tournaments.

Meanwhile, President Badminton Federation of Nigeria Francis Orbih says he is determined alongside the new Board to take Badminton to a new height in Nigeria.

“This year we are having two National Championships which is okay as the board is new. The Plan is to take Badminton to the grass roots and  have schools engage in Badminton.Today we have our Male and Female Players well ranked in Africa and with constant competitions we will discover new Talents.

The 1st Mutual Benefits National Badminton Championship holds at the Police College Ikeja from the 15th - 18th of November 2017.
