Chairman of the League Management Company of Nigeria, LMC, Mallam Shehu Dikko told news men in Kano at the opening ceremony of this year's Kano state Tofa premier league that the 2017/2018 Nigerian professional football league season will kick start after due consultations with the Club Chairmen.

Shehu Dikko emphasis that the new Nigerian professional football league season, NPFL, will start early and ends before the Russia 2018 World Cup.


On mid week and weekend matches as we witness during the 2016/2017 season, Dikko said "that will be sorted out with the club chairmen before the start of the season and CAF has given order to all continent football federations to align their league calendars with that of the European leagues which usually starts by August and ends by May."

Shehu Dikko LMC Chairman

He declared that, the new season must finished before the World Cup and emphasize on fans violence in  match venues. According to Dikko, LMC, will sit and have a round table discussion with the leadership of all the 20 NPFL clubs to fish out ways on how to assuage such bad behaviours and to go back and inform those fans that football is not a do or die affairs.

Dikko also commended the government of Kano state, former nff Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, Kano state FA chairman Sharu Inuwa Rabiu Ahlan and the sponsor of Kano state Tofa premier league, Alhaji Isiyaku Umar, Dan Adalan Kano for organizing such a huge competition over the years.
