Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia's ambition to finish among the elite group in the on-going Nigeria Professional Football League suffered another setback today when they were held goalless by visiting Akwa United in one of the week 30 games decided at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

It was actually a match the Warriors could have won if their strikers were more articulate in front of goal and they paid dearly for it as Akwa gained in confidence to record a second consecutive goalless draw in Umuahia in as many seasons.

Akwa UTD also had the opportunity to break the deadlock but the likes of Christian Pyagbara and Alhassan Ibrahim either shot wide or were frustrated by Abia Warriors goaltender, Agbor Ekoi who stood out.
With the result, the Warriors lost some grounds as they are now placed 13th on the 20-team league table after 30 games.

Next for the Warriors is a game against Niger Tornadoes of Minna at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja on Sunday while Akwa return to Uyo to host Nasarawa Utd of Lafia.
