Coach Henry Makinwa has revealed that he will be looking to bolster his squad in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) transfer window. The newly-promoted club have made a strong start to the current campaign and currently sit in ninth place on the NPFL log.
Makinwa is satisfied with his side’s solid start to the first half of the season but believes reinforcements are required if the new boys are to avoid losing steam during the business end of the campaign. “I have made my feelings about transfers known to the management of the club and I did that about three to four weeks ago and hopefully, I get a reply soon.
“The team needs to be fortified,” he said.
ABS FC have impressed many with their expansive and attractive brand of football this season and many have linked the side’s entertaining and effective style to the coaching philosophy of Makinwa. The former junior international however refuses to take the plaudits and praised his charges for "keying into my philosophy."
“I must commend my players for keying into my philosophy as this has reflected in our style of play. “I got my coaching licence from the Spanish Football Federation and Spain have been world beaters in recent years.
“I was fortunate to be in Spain where I got the right concept; the new concept. “When I came back to Nigeria, I tried to teach my players and these were not things they were used to.
“The only times we have problems (implementing the philosophy) is when we play on bad pitches,” he said. ABS FC have amassed 25 out of a possible 54 points in the NPFL this season.
