Aigbogun, who led the People’s Elephants to a 10th place finish in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) last term, was due to arrive in Ghana on Monday evening to complete his move to the Ghana Premier League outfit.
According to the media officer of Hearts of Oak, Opare Addo, the former Warri Wolves manager “has failed to honour his words and would not come as anticipated” and the spokesman apologised to all fans on behalf of the club’s management.
“Hearts of Oak wishes to sincerely apologize to its teeming fans that the coach who was expected to arrive in Accra, Ghana tonight [Monday] to take up the coaching role at the club has failed to honour his word and would not come as anticipated,” Addo said in an official statement.
“Management is looking at other available but suitable options. Once again we sincerely apologize and thank you all for your patience and support. Thank you all.”
The Ghanaian giants have been in hunt for a coach since the departure of Japanese Kenichi Yatsuhashi.
