The National Chairman of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Rev. Sam lkpea has congratulated FC Ifeanyi Ubah for emerging winners of the Super Cup, after it defeated Enugu Rangers 4-3 on penalties, yesterday in Abuja.
Speaking after the game, Ikpea expressed delight on the quality of soccer display by both teams , which he attributed to the new found fervour and growth in the Nigerian football.
"Both teams were really impressive and it is an indication of the growing enthusiasm and love for our local football. I think we must commend the players and officials of the teams, " he said.
He was particularly, effusive in praises for the proprietor of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, for spending his earned money on his passion.
" I must commend and thank Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah for spending his money, energy and time on the development of Nigerian football. Unlike other rich and influential Nigerians who would rather pay lip services to Nigerian sports, this man is providing social services and invariably providing employment to several youths within and outside the shores of the country, " he added.
Continuing, he disclosed plans by the supporters club to provide encouragement and support to all the teams representing the country on the continent.
" We have plans to support all the teams representing Nigeria. The supporters club is not about the national teams only. As we want to collaborate with the club sides representing Nigeria in terms of supportership, anywhere they go to play, " he enthused.
