Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has directed the Ministry of Sports in Rivers State to liase with the Nigeria Wrestling Federation to host an annual Senior National Wrestling Championship in the state. This was disclosed by Hon. Daniel Igali, President of Nigeria Wrestling Federation. According to him, the governor further advised the Nigeria Wrestling Federation to make a bid to host the 2018 Senior African Wrestling Championship in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Igali added , " Nigeria Wrestling Federation will soon consult the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports to submit a bid for the hosting rights to the 2018 Senior African Championship."
