The maiden edition of the TNK /ONOSKY football tournament for grassroots teams in the Ajegunle axis of Lagos State, begins today with matches being played at the popular St Mary's Catholic Church playground, Oregie, Ajegunle. The tourney which is expected to feature four teams, is being organised by two childhood friends, Super Falcons defender, Onome Ebi and Ngozi Onyebuchi Okeke.
According to the major sponsor of the tournament, Okeke, the tournament is a way to encourage the indigent but talented footballers that abounds in the grassroots. As well as, give back to the community they grew up from.
" This is just a token from our innermost heart to show appreciation to our community. You know, there are several talented footballers in the grassroots and our initiative is aimed at further encouraging them to achieve their dreams, " the former footballer enthused.
Speaking further, the grassroots football enthusiast, fondly known as Mummy TNK, added that the duo are grateful to God for all He has been doing in their lives. As they hope to make the tourney an annual event.
