Emmanuel Dennis celebrates one of his goals against Real Madrid |
Dennis was snapped up by Belgian side Club Brugge for a fee in the region of £1m, He netted five in six to start with a flourish and is now in his third season at the club.
Off the ball, his energy is infectious and he constantly presses his opponents - a sure-fire way to keep the crowd on-side and ensure he is the first name on the team-sheet.
His defining and precious moment came in November last year, when he scored twice against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in the Champions League group stages and also
in a 1-1 draw at home to the Red Devils in a UEFA Europa League match in February before the Global lockdown due to coronavirus outbreak.
In his words " Against Manchester United was a highlight. Madrid is a big team, the best in the world, but I was disappointed because I wanted us to win and we drew. I wanted that three points,” Dennis told Sky Sports.
" I was happy because I was speaking with friends and they said, ‘Imagine you play against Real Madrid’. I said, ‘I’m going to score and I’m going to do the Ronaldo celebration’ and they were like, ‘what, are you sure?’ and I said ‘yeah’, so we bet.
" I was excited to score and do the celebration, I was very happy that day. But I was happier after a few weeks, I was on my phone and I saw the picture of my celebration and I thought ‘you scored in Madrid’, the excitement came after a few weeks. It was crazy."

Meanwhile, Dennis brother is a Man United supporter but was happy to see his sibling score against them.
" My brother is a Manchester United die-hard fan, a crazy one, he’s always angry when they lose. So then I played against them and scored and he said ‘OK, I’m proud of you,” with all smiles.
Dennis made his debut for super eagles back in September, coming on for the final eight minutes of a friendly against Ukraine, before coming on for 11 minutes against Brazil a month later.
He has been his club's stand-out performer, and it is no surprise that he has attracted attention from some of the big boys across Europe, constantly displays his lightning pace, and has an explosive way of playing, making bursting runs off the shoulder of the last defender and regularly timing those runs to perfection.
