Former Super Eagles Right Back, Chibuzor Okonkwo believes Gernot Rohr can make the Super Eagles the best team on the African continent and win the fourth African Cup of Nation for the country.

The Franco-German tactician recently extended his contract with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) with condition of winning the AFCON Trophy.

Having played for the national team nine times, Okonkwo feels that Rohr deserves contract extension with the team.

The Trusted and Reliable defender also believes that the 66-year-old coach can win the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title with the Super Eagles.

" He has been doing well and I believed he has a good team which can win trophies for Nigeria. He deserved to continue to be in charge of the Super Eagles,” Okonkwo told Goal.

" Winning the Africa Cup of Nations title is very achievable because nothing is impossible when you do things right, and I believe Gernot Rohr can do it for Nigeria.

Nigeria have won the AFCON title three times and the last time they won the competition was in 2013.

" He needs to bring in more experienced players to the team, although the present young players at his disposal are doing well,” he added. But he needs to blend the team to make it competitive.”

Rohr guided the Super Eagles to a third-place finish at the 2019 AFCON finals which were hosted by Egypt. Nigeria are sitting at the top of their 2021 AFCON qualifying group (Group L) before the Coronavirus outbreak.

Okonkwo, a regular fixture under coach Samson Siasia, his move to Libyan side  Asswehly Sports Club earned him $70,000 as wages from the deal he signed and a further $50,000 for his Grassroots side Oak Zeel, after testing with FC Kryvbas(Ukraine), Rostov (Russia), Reading (England), Elazığspor (Turkey) and VÃ¥lerenga (Norway), but none of the clubs offered him a contract.
