Former Super Eagles winger, Finidi George has said that the Nigeria Professional Football League is no longer competitive unlike what we have, when I was playing in the League in late 80's and early 90’s.

George Finidi moved from Sharks FC of Port Harcourt, now Rivers United to Ajax Amsterdam in Holland and went straight into the First team of one of the best European team at that time.

The former Real Betis of Spain intelligent winger said the standard of the NPFL is very low now and that is really affecting the players, making it difficult for them to cope with the standard of play in Europe, they play more tactically and fast football.

" The Nigerian league is not that competitive any longer, the level have dropped drastically, when players in Nigeria professional football league find themselves in Europe and see that the standard is higher than what they are accustom with, it becomes very difficult to cope and acclimatized with the conditions. I think that is the major problem, most of our players are having in Europe.”

George alongside Kanu Nwaknwo are first two Nigerian players to win the Uefa Champions League, he has shown interests in coaching Nigerian national teams bringing his wealth of experience garnered in Europe to take the country where it ought to be in global football map.

" Let me make this clear, nobody works for free, When i said i can work for free by coaching Nigeria national team, i mean, i am not going to ask for too much money and we want to come back and give our experience that we have gathered all these years in Europe, also while playing international games putting on the Green White Green Jersey.

" However, nobody will want to do anything for free these days. Despite the fact that Nigeria is my country, i would not want to bother anybody asking for lots of money, we just want to have the job done and get the needed result.

We have been praying and hoping to that we can bring back lost glories and position  Nigerian football to where it rightfully belongs.
