Head Coach of Dakkada FC Caleb Esu has decried the low level of motivation the club has received since the start of the 2019/20 NPFL season.

In an exclusive chat with Ekikere Monday on Comfort 95.1 fm, the former Doyin babes, Udoji United and Go Round FC Coach revealed that players and officials of the club have been on half salary since September 2019:

" Dakkada FC as a young child and small team in the state is trying to carve a niche for themselves. In terms of funding, we commend the Commissioner for Youth and Sports who really have taken the bull by the horn to see that we stay afloat.

" It has been a difficult one with the team actually because we've been collecting half salary since September up till this day. That aspect has not really gone well with the team motivationally and I think that's where the problem is."

Inspite of this challenge, Esu said he's been monitoring and engaging his players this lockdown period:

" What I've just done is to get some of my players via phone line, telling them to stay fit by doing their personal training at their own disposal and not going out to crowdy places.

The personal training has to do with the physiological aspect of it and then technically do some dribble runs around their verandah or wherever they have. But that is not enough for a professional player.

" I have had discussions with the boys close to me to keep themselves fit and be prepared as we don't know what the LMC will do as there's no time. So I urge them to stay fit, calm, focused and not just relaxed because of what is happening presently. Some of them have given me their word on this".

Alongside table toppers Plateau United and Rangers FC, newcomer Dakkada FC holds the record for the the lowest number of game losses away from home (4) and have drawn more games on the road (8) than any other club.

However, the team has recorded four losses at home, currently placed eighth on the log with 34 points and 14 matches left to conclude this season.
