GOV OKOWA PRESEASON TOURNEY: Abubakar Bala Satisfied With First Game Result

Niger Tornadoes head coach Abubakar Bala has lauded Rivers United as worthy opponents at the Gov Okowa Pre Season Tourney and congratulated his boys for their efforts to get a point against them.

The game ended 0-0 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium on Friday.

Abubakar Bala believes that the team reacted well to the Pride of Rivers’ approach to the match, insisting that they can very dangerous on counter attacks.

"That was a good match and my boys have managed to get a point from it ,” he coach remarked in a chat with Gov Okowa Pre Season Tourney Media,

"We are here to work on our areas of weakness and improve on the strengths the team possesses.

They [Rivers United] are, however, a very good side that is great on the counter and if any team is not careful then they can exploit their strength to win, but we played well to counter the opportunities they created.

"Tornadoes won the Ogunjobi Gold Cup and want to maintain the success at the Gov Okowa Pre Season Tourney.

Coach Abubakar Bala praised the Sunday Akinmoladun led backline for keeping it tight in the goalless draw with Rivers United.

"We conceded cheap goals at the Ogunjobi Gold Cup. You can see that team has improved. We have been able to reach 50% of target with the clean sheet kept today.
