Today is a monumental day for our women’s basketball team D'Tigress as they face the United State of America female team, the number one ranked team in the Quarterfinals of the 2018 FIBA Women’s World Cup.
The minister of sports Barrister Solomon Dalung who was present to cheer the ladies to victory in their last two games has promised to reward D'Tigress with $10,000 if they beat USA today in the quarter final of the 2018 FIBA Women's World Cup in Tenerife - Spain.
He made this promise when he paid a courtesy visit to the team's camp last night at their Sol Costa Atlantis hotel.
"He said the promise is just his personal effort to motivate the girls to do strive for greatness when they meet USA who are currently ranked world number 1.
He Further said "Defeating the world's number 1 is achievable which is the beauty of basketball.
In the same vein, he said the same level of dedication and world class arrangement given to the National Teams will also be extended to the grassroots and club basketball in Nigeria.
He revealed that immediately after the conclusion of the Total/NBBF Division 2 National final, attention will shift to the Men's premier league and Zenith Bank sponsored women premier league.
