Yusuf Garuba Owner and C.E.O
Of Y.G Football Club
Yusuf Garba, Founder and Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O) of a non-league side, YG Football Club and Y.G Football Agency has urged Gernot Rohr and his assistants to scout and give local league players the chance to feature for the Super Eagles during the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Nigeria who suffered a 2-0 home defeat to South Africa Bafana Bafana in the Group E opening fixture will in September be guest to Seychelles.

According to Garba, "We have quality in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), what some of these good players don't get is opportunity.

"Aside goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa, one or two players who did well in the CHAN Tournament that was held in Morocco in January should have made the team to World Cup, though I wouldn't fault Gernot Rohr stand on the local players.

"This attitude of not giving our domestic league players a chance to showcase their skills with the national male team is not good for our domestic football development. In the long run, will make players shun the Nigeria Professional Football League as they lack confidence in the structure.

Coach Manu Garba, Y.G Boss Yusuf Garba and
Asst. Coach Nduka Ugbade in Abuja
"If playing or winning trophies in the colors of Enyimba, Kano Pillars, Plateau United or Akwa United can't earn you an invite to the Super Eagles when a major championship is around the corner while waste precious time.

"That's why you see some who showed brilliance within a short time in the NPFL would want to dump his team to go play in some not too rated leagues across Africa, Asia and Europe."

"I feel the Eagles coaches have learnt a big lesson from the World Cup, if look at the football powers came with their home league players.

"With age not on the side of some Super Eagles players and some bound to retire in the near future, this is the best time to scout the talented players in the NPFL to fill in the gaps.

"With the 2019 AFCON Qualifiers resuming in some months time, I expect that our local coaches who are assistants to Gernot Rohr must do the needful, they should make cases for our home grown players. There are alot of talented players now in the league, I want to implore the Coaches to look inward now and build the team around local players."
